If you are searching for outdoor lights, then you simply can not go wrong with motion sensor outdoor lighting. Whether you want it for security reasons or just for lighting purposes, this type of outdoor lighting is your best bet.  Because it the most energy efficient and cost-effective lighting method available today. Motion sensor light is a product which detects the infrared band of light and at the same time detects heat waves of a certain moving object. When a something or somebody enters the range the motion sensor outdoor lighting is activated.

Plenty of motion sensor lights have installed timers which you can easily operate by switching it to remain on for 15 minutes or as low as just 1 minute. Currently there are two main types of motion sensor outdoor lighting according to its primarily purpose. The first type are those lighting systems which are designed for lighting your yard in general, and the second type are those which are installed for security reasons. Each of the two listed types come in a wide range of styles for patios, paths, decks and gardens. Some are built of wrought iron or framed in wood, and some have beautiful pewter or brass finishes.

To maximize your comfort you can get a wireless remote motion detector. This does not come in the package with motion sensor outdoor lighting, it has to be bought separately. It can be installed as far as 5,000 feet away from the actual lights. For example, you can mount it at the front gate of your driveway, and this way as soon as you enter into your driveway with the car, the wireless remote motion detector triggers all installed sensor lights around the house.

Types Of Motion Sensor Outdoor Lighting

You can choose to install either electric motion sensor outdoor  lighting or solar motion sensor outdoor lighting. If you have an accessible electric hook-up nearby, then you ought to opt for electric floodlights, and from there you can even choose wither you want to go for LEDs or halogen bulbs. If your power outlets are nowhere close to your preferred installment area, then solar floodlights are the obvious choice as they will save you money in the long run because you will not have to run wires around the house. Although solar motion sensor outdoor lighting is higher-priced than the electric type, it has no operating costs and as I stated before you will spend less money looking long term.

In addition, solar models also have a longer life expectancy. However, solar motion sensor lights do have a drawback and that is restricted energy storage capacity. This does not represent an issue for  motion sensor outdoor lighting units. Why? Due to the reason they come on and off and only remain for a restricted period, and the batteries generally have enough power for to last for moths, even if longer cloudy periods occur. If you are worried about losing the power, at any moment you are able to install a backup battery.

To further expand your cost-effectiveness, choose solar motion sensor lights with LEDs as they use less energy then halogen bulbs. Solar units contain panels which absorbs the sun energy during the day. The panel itself can be installed in the light fixture or can be a segregated unit which is attached to the light using a simple cable. If you want to mount a solar motion sensor lighting somewhere the sun does not reach, the you ought to acquire models which come with a separated solar panel. That way the lighting can be put in the shadow, and the panel can be placed in a sunny area.

Thanks for the summary. I've had bad luck with solar units. Seems the rechargeable nicad's don't last when critters are running around the yard all night cycling on and off the lights. Thanks for sharing.
